2009 Service Quality Evaluation Academy |

The Academy is an intensive five-day program focusing on qualitative and quantitative methods for collecting and analyzing library service quality data. The program emphasizes basic concepts and skills in measurement and data analysis that will be applicable to service quality evaluations. The Academy is designed for librarians across library types and organizational structures, with a strong commitment to service quality assessment efforts.
Interested individuals are welcome to submit an application before the deadline of October 27, 2008.

Web Development with XML: Design and Applications |

This five-day workshop will explore XML with a specific focus on fundamentals of design, markup, and use. Participants will use XML and related technologies in the creation of a prototype digital publication. In addition, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Libraries will host a reception and tour of their new Carolina Digital Library and Archive.

The Association of Research Libraries, the University of Virginia Library, and the University of Washington Libraries are pleased to announce the second Library Assessment Conference: Building Effective, Sustainable, Practical Assessment, to be held at the University of Washington in Seattle.
The conference goal is to support and nurture the library assessment community through a mix of invited speakers, contributed papers and posters, workshops, and engaging discussion. The conference is geared toward library and information professionals and researchers with responsibility for or an interest in the broad field of library assessment with an emphasis on (but not limited) to North American academic libraries. It builds on the success of our first assessment conference, held in Charlottesville, September 2006.
